1. The reconfigurable computer motherboard.
The reconfigurable computer consists of the motherboard and up to five daughter boards (with application-speicifc components) that attach directly to the motherboard. The motherboard provides much of the "infrastructure" (e.g., clocks and interface circuitry) that would be useful for the numerous applications contained on the daughter boards.
Tanner EPD has designed the reconfigurable motherboard as a standard plug-n-play PCI card. This allows the motherboard to interact directly with any host PC via the PCI-bus. Furthermore, software written for the PC can interact directly with the reconfigurable motherboard.
Finally, the motherboard also allows the daughtercards to interact directly with each other and the PCI-bus (and hence the host PC). This also allows the PC software to interact directly with the daughter boards contained on the motherboard.
